 | Weekly Dvar Torah From the words "you too" we derive that a person's agent can act in his stead; that the agent of a person is as he himself." Talmud Kedushin 41b.
Perhaps we can understand this concept through a famous exchange.
When his eldest son, DovBer, reached 'cheder' age, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi (the first Rebbe of Chabad Lubavitch) approached one of his colleagues, a fellow disciple of their late master, the Magid od Mezritch. In his characteristic sinsong manner, Rabbi Schneur Zalman said:
"I have a Mitzvah to fulfill- the commandment "you shall teach them[the words of Torah] to your children". You too, have a Mitzvah incumbent upon you - the duty to support your family. Let us make an exchange: I will provide you with the means to fulfill your Mitzvah, and you will teach my son.
Rabbi Schneur Zalman then gave the young man a crash course in his approach to early childhood education: "One obviously starts, with the ALEPH-Bais. What is an Aleph? a dot above, a dot below, and a line in between-this is an Aleph. And this is the very Aleph of the Torah: that the Yud above (G-d)and the Yud below (the Jew) are bound by a line of faith."

Top Government Officials Attend
Shushan Persia- High ranking officials will attend the Haddasah community benefit in the nation's capital, where an outstanding individual will be recognized for his major contributions to anti-semitism in the community.
"We are encouraged by the positive response to our invitations on short notice. We pray that this dinner will be a success" said a Haddasah spokeswoman, working fast on preparations for 3 days.
The dinner menu will feature wine and refreshments, topped by just desserts. The outdoor patio offers a tree lined walk for after dinner cooling off. A similar dinner was sponsored by Haddasah yesterday for various reasons, but it was not yet known if it was successful.
A prominent guest at yesterday's gala affair affair said: "my wife insisted that i attend. After so many big parties with thousands of people I enjoyed the small friendly get-together. the company was nice, and the wine was great. Hey, I'd give half my kingdom to make 'em happy. I am happy to be invited again."
Rushed to the Haddasah dinner from another public event, the premier appeared exhausted after serving as Grand Marshal at a parade honoring a Jewish communal leader.
"I feel dumped on, and can use a party now. I look forward to this uplifting experience" the premier said.
P.S. Mr. H. Chamberlain will receive the honorary "Zachar Latov Award" for his services to the Jewish community.

| | | | | | Dvar Torah for Lag BaOmer Every night when counting Sefirah we say, "Today is so many la'Omer-of the Omer." Why do we call the 33rd day "Lag BaOmer" and not "Lag LaOmer"?
Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai was a reincarnation of the Neshama of Moshe Rabbeinu . The words "LAG BAOMER" have the numerical value of 345, which is also the numerical value of "MOSHE".

| | | Shavuous The Purpose of the mundane
The Zohar states that until Yisro came to Har Sinai and praised Hashem, saying, “Blessed is Hashem, Who saved you from the Egyptians,” the Torah could not have been given.
Now, we must understand, the entire Jewish nation — men, women and children — sang Hashem’s praise after their crossing of the Red Sea, and being saved from the Egyptians. So why wasn’t their extensive praise sufficient? In other words, what did Yisro’s praise accomplish that was not accomplished by the Song at the Sea?
The explanation is that before Matan Torah, the spiritual and the physical realms were distinct entities; they could not become united. As we say: “Hashamayim shamayim l’Hashem, v’haaretz nosan livnei adam — The heavens [belong to] Hashem, and the earth was given to mankind.” Matan Torah accomplished the fusion between the spiritual and the physical. After Matan Torah, for example, the hide of an animal becomes holy when it is used as parchment for a Sefer Torah, tefillin or mezuzah, and remains so even if the scroll becomes possul.
However, in order for this to be accomplished, the materialistic world first had to elevate itself to demonstrate its readiness to receive the holiness of the spiritual realm.
This was Yisro’s accomplishment. Yisro noticed a remarkable phenomenon: At the time of the Splitting of the Sea, all bodies of water similarly split. G-dliness was evident everywhere, as the shira points out that all the nations of the world were awe-stricken. Nevertheless, that didn’t prevent Amalek from attacking the Jewish nation. Even after the Splitting of the Sea, the world remained separated from the spiritual realm. Its effect was temporary. True, the nations were shocked into total submission, but they remained as before. And once the shock wore off, they attacked.
Yisro, the leader of Midian, was extremely knowledgeable in all forms of idol worship — in simple words, the extreme opposite of G-dliness. So when he came to sing Hashem’s praise and convert (stating that Hashem is greater than all gods), that demonstrated that even the lowest parts of the physical world were elevated to the spiritual realms. Now the Torah could be given. This was something that was not possible for Bnei Yisroel to accomplish themselves, as they were not connected to the lowest levels of the world.
The Torah is eternal, and its teachings are our guide in every time period and situation in life.
Even though Torah is our life and we all study as much as possible, the vast majority of us spend most of the day in commerce. This being the case, we can learn about our daily conduct from our behavior at the Splitting of the Sea. Just as bnei Yisroel sang shira immediately after witnessing Hashem’s great miracles, so too, the first thing we do when we arise is daven (and learn), and then we go to work.
But the workplace should not be considered as being a contradiction to G-dliness, since the accomplishment of Matan Torah is the fusion between both worlds. We demonstrate this when we give graciously and generously from our businesses to help perpetuate the learning of Torah and other mitzvos. In so doing, we show that even in the workplace we are serving Hashem. As the possuk says, “B’chol derachecha dei’eihu — Know Him in all your ways” or said another way, “In all your ways and accomplishments, you are serving Him.”
Just as this was the preparation for the Giving of the Torah, elevating the workplace and our other mundane pursuits in the above ways is a preparation for Hashem to once again reveal His glory with the building of the Third Beis HaMikdash speedily in our days.
